God Rest Ye, Merry Gentlemen - Jars of Clay - listen now

The White House has agreed to support the McCain Amendment.

A shame really. It'll be hard to keep fighting the War on Terror with our hands tied behind our backs. Look for emboldened terrorists to start trying to attack in force now that they think we're turning tail. Osama's main contention has always been that America is a paper tiger and doesn't have the stomach to do what is necessary to win a war. He's probably got a big shit-eating grin on his face right now.

Rest assured though, one more major terrorist attack in this country, and no one is going to care if Abdul still has all his fingernails.

From Ace of Spades HQ:
The moral preeners forced this mistake on Bush, who once again folded in the face of pressure.

But that pretty much ends any useful intelligence from Al Qaeda terrorists. They now know that Americans can't even belly-slap them, let alone put fake blood on them. Which is, as Saint Andrew of the Sacred "Heart-Ache" tells us, torture.
Saint Andrew would be one Andrew Sullivan, blog hostess of Torture.com.

Eh. I personally think it won't change anything in our modus operandi. We Americans are clever folk: we can work around inconvenient rules.

St. Andrew of the Sacred Heartache - he's quite a character.

I think our troops should start dressing up like the Galactic Empire's Imperial Guard. That'll strike fear into our enemies' hearts! Mwahahahahaha! Or, wait, is that torture too?

Hmmm. Let's see. We already know that we've tortured Al Qeada people to find out if Al Qeada was linked to Saddam Hussein. We tortured the guy until he admitted it was true. Then we used that as evidence to go to war in Iraq.

Except it turns out the Al Qeada guy lied. He only told us that Al Qeada was linked to Iraq to stop the torturing, since that is obviously what we wanted to hear.

So torturing ended up giving us false evidence, false evidence which subsequently led us into war for the wrong reasons.

And this is good how exactly?
