The Harvard Professor And The Wolf

Harvard Professor Gates Says It's Time to 'Move on' From His Arrest
Black Harvard scholar Henry Louis Gates Jr. says he's ready to move on from his arrest by a white police officer, hoping to use the encounter to improve fairness in the criminal justice system and saying "in the end, this is not about me at all."
Meaning... "I cried wolf! and nobody came..."

It's funny because Americans have no idea what a truly unfair and unjust criminal justice system is like. Ask Ri Hyon Ok of North Korea. Are there transgressions in our system? Yes. But they are the extreme exception.

When Liberals Attack... Each Other...

Isn't it funny how liberals always end up apologizing for actions that they normally lay at the feet of conservatives?

New York Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D) apologizes for using N word
New York Rep. Carolyn Maloney, a Democrat, apologized Monday for using the N word in a recent interview while recounting a phone call she had received.

"I apologize for having repeated a word I find disgusting," Maloney said in a statement. "It's no excuse but I was so caught up in relaying the story exactly as it was told to me that, in doing so, I repeated a word that should never be repeated."

Maloney, who is challenging Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand for the 2010 Democratic Senate nomination in New York, used the full racial slur in an interview with the Web site City Hall while taking aim at Gillibrand's record.

"I got a call from someone from Puerto Rico, said [Gillibrand] went to Puerto Rico and came out for English-only [education]. And he said, 'It was like saying n—r to a Puerto Rican,'" Maloney said. "I don't know-I don't know if that's true or not. I just called. I'm just throwing that out. All of her-well, what does she stand for?"
Fascinating isn't it?

Whoever Got Him... Keep Up The Good Work

U.S. Al Qaeda Member Killed in Somalia
Another Minnesota man recruited to join an Al Qaeda-linked group in Somalia has been killed in the war-torn African country, according to a spokesman for the man’s family.

Family members of 20-year-old Jamal Bana found photos of his bloody body online, according to Abdirizak Bihi, who has represented many of the families whose loved ones left the Minneapolis area last year to join al-Shabaab, which has been warring with the moderate Somali government since 2006.

The FBI has been looking into how more than 20 young, Somali-American men from the Twin Cities and elsewhere were recruited to train and possibly fight alongside al-Shabaab.

Walking While Texting? Don't Bitch When You Trip

Texting Teen Falls Down Open Manhole on Staten Island
One second a Staten Island teenager was walking down the street, the next second she was gone.

Alexa Longueira was walking down Victory Boulevard and getting ready to text-message when she fell into an open sewer manhole. Now the city is trying to figure out why the manhole was left open and unblocked.

Alexa suffered some cuts and scrapes but is otherwise OK.

He mother says workers told her they left the manhole open and unattended for just seconds while they went to fetch some cones from their truck. [...]

Alexa's mom says it doesn't matter that her daughter was text-messaging, the manhole should not have been left open. The family plans to file as lawsuit.
Apparently in New York you can sue yourself for being an idiot. Who knew?

Victoria Jackson Speaks Truth To Power

Down is Up, Unfair is Fair and Ignorance is Bliss
I woke up in the middle of the night and realized the trick.

You see, evil doesn’t just show up. It disguises itself as something nice; so you’ll let it in. It tricks you.

Murdering babies is called Pro-Choice. Unfair Censorship is called The Fairness Doctrine. Outlandish Taxes and the Death of Freedom is called Cap & Trade. Sounds like Fish & Chips. You gotta figure out the trick.
Victoria, I think you're absolutely correct. Hitler was a statist. Stalin was a statist. Obama and today's leftists (masquerading as "liberal") are statists. They all place the sovereignty of "The State" over the individual. They all eschew individual liberty. If that means you or I need to do without electricity for 10 hours a day - so be it. If that means the State needs 99% of your income in order to "do good" - so be it. If that means a baby, or the sick, or the old need to die for the good of the State - so be it. They won't ever say it in such blunt terms, but that's what their "welfare" and "choices" and "compassion" boil down to.

We Hold These Truths To Be Self Evident...

Goopy Gwyneth, Olé!

Gwyneth has become enamored of another Euro-culture. One of those like, old ones, she thinks...

Gwyneth Paltrow Says Spain Changed Her Life
"It is so different from the United States. It seemed to have a history, and the buildings are years and years and years old. Here in the United States an old building is about 17 (years old), and over there it's from 500 B.C., it's incredible," she said.
Really?! Years and years and years old! Actually in 500 B.C. (and I'm sure you meant B.C.E. you insensitive christocentric American!) Iberia was being colonized by Greeks. Pretty much everything they built is a bit "run down" now. And really Gwen, everything in the United States is about 17 years old? Ah yes, I remember back in 1990s when America opened and they built the Old North Church and Faneuil Hall, and it seems like just yesterday they laid the final brick for Independence Hall, and what a sight to see the helicopter raise the capstone for the Washington Monument up and into place...

What a ... well... I guess Goop is the right word after all.
