This Sounds Like A Familiar Song...

Sorry Tim, but you've got to do more than collect all the same old, same old advisors and positions if you want my attention or vote in 2012. Right now you sound like the same old song just a different verse.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty has been quietly assembling the blueprint of a presidential campaign and will announce Thursday the support of a group of high-level political strategists and donors, complemented by a handful of top new media consultants, POLITICO has learned.

Pawlenty, under the radar of D.C.’s political community, has locked up some of the key operatives who engineered then-President George W. Bush’s reelection campaign — a significant feat for a little-known Midwestern politician.

The moves underscore, and will lend credence to, the emerging belief among many establishment Republicans that Pawlenty is becoming the sole viable alternative to former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, a potential Republican primary rival. The Minnesota governor has even gone so far as to contact some of Romney's former supporters.

I refuse to help field another John McCan't candidate - even if it means a second term for Obama. The same goes for you too, Mitt.

Calm Down Like Hell!

Calm down? Like hell!

McCain, you've got a long hard road ahead of you and you still aren't getting my vote, or the votes of a lot of other conservatives. But as Michelle Malkin points out in her column today, sitting at home isn't the answer. There are other ways to work for the causes we believe in, and a new generation of politicians that we can support; they are representing you now in your city and county and state. Don't "calm down" - get fired up! By doing so we can send a message to John McCain and his ilk that we won't be falling quietly into line behind his disastrous vision for America.

Tammy Bruce reminds us that this campaign isn't over until it's over. Or rather, until the convention. If McCain wants to play dirty backroom politics like he did in West Virginia, let's encourage Mitt to stay in. Let's turn the coronation into a brokered brawl. And if you're going to CPAC (aka Weekend at Ronnie's), don't forget your sombrero.

QC's Presidential Endorsement

I endorse Mitt Romney for President of the United States.

Mitt is a successful businessman, he is intelligent and well spoken. He has run both successful businesses and been a successful conservative governor of the very liberal Massachusetts. He has proven skill as an executive in both the public and private sectors. He's a man of faith.

Mitt has also run a campaign without lying about his opponents; other candidates cannot say the same. Mitt has changed his mind on issues, including abortion, but it wasn't done with contempt merely to make himself more palatable to a conservative base that he despises and curses; other candidates cannot say the same.

Mitt isn't perfect. None of the candidates are, but if you want a President who can govern with integrity, honesty, and a calm and strong demeanor, then Mitt Romney is your man. If you want a President that knows how to work with his political opponents and not join them, then Mitt Romney is your man. If you want a President who doesn't value the preening adoration of those opposed to conservative ideals, then Mitt Romeny is your man. If you want to win in November and keep the conservative movement intact and strong, then vote for Mitt Romeny.

California Dreaming....

Looks like Romney has a shot at doing well in the big prize: California. Even McCain is playing down his chances there.

For at least one candidate, though, California will not be the story. John McCain, once an afterthought, then the front-runner, is seeing his poll numbers in the Golden State sink again. After enjoying leads as high as 19 points, just days after his New Hampshire win, and 13 points, in a CNN/Politico/LA Times poll last week, McCain now owns just a 2-point lead in the latest RCP California Average.

The news may be worse than that. A tracking poll for C-SPAN and Reuters, taken by Zogby, shows distinct movement toward McCain's chief opponent in California, Mitt Romney. After taking the lead yesterday, Romney is now up by eight points. A victory by such a small margin would only give Romney a few extra delegates -- the state allocates most of their Republican delegates in a winner-take-all by Congressional District fashion.

In anticipation of such a result, McCain's team has started downplaying expectations and California's relative importance.

Even if a win in California left Romney at a disadvantage in the rest of the country, it would be a huge boost for a candidate who has looked, if not resigned to his fate, at least on the ropes and badly in need of a victory. A Golden State win could prove to the former Massachusetts governor that a one-on-one race against McCain really could turn to Romney's advantage, and in the end, that could make for a renewed interest in a long-term crusade against the Arizona maverick.

That along with some wins and strong showings in other states will keep this race open and hopefully conservatives can come together behind Mitt for the primaries that remain after tomorrow. Come on Mitt, it's time to kick it into gear...run with what you get tomorrow and let's put a dent in fender of "the Straight Talk Express"!

P.S. I wonder if I'm on Cindy McCain's grudge list yet? That would be cool!

P-Day In Florida

I think McCain is going to win. The media has done too good a job touting him and from what I can see, people are buying into the hype.

As for the back and forth between Juan and Mitt; yes they both have flaws. However, if I must choose between two people who have changed their positions, I'll take the one who doesn't bristle and demean (yes, demean) his colleagues, subordinates, and fellow Americans when they disagree with him or do something he doesn't like.

Also, Romney has said he examined his beliefs and that's what brought about his change on different matters. McCain however, simply changed his stance because the "f*cking" people and their "f*cking" representatives (his congressional colleagues) with their "chickens*it" nit-picking gave him no choice. I'll take a change of heart over a grudging admission of defeat any day.

Conservatives, mainline Republicans and family history made it Mitt Romney's day in Michigan, underscoring the fractured nature of the 2008 Republican presidential race as he became the third GOP winner in the first three high-profile contests.

In addition to restoring the former Massachusetts governor's fortunes, the outcome underscored Arizona Sen. John McCain's challenges translating support centered on independents and moderates in a party dominated by conservatives and mainline Republicans.

I've said I'll support "Juan Kennedy McCaingry"* in the general election if he - unfortunately - gets the GOP nomination. But I really, really, really hope it doesn't come to that.

Republican Tancredo Drops 2008 Bid, Backs Romney

Rep. Tom Tancredo of Colorado, a strong supporter of tougher immigration laws, dropped his long-shot Republican presidential bid on Thursday and endorsed former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.

Tancredo, who entered the race to raise awareness of the immigration issue, languished at the bottom of a big Republican presidential field most of the year but said he had accomplished his task.

I really like Tancredo. I'm already leaning a bit toward Romney; this helps.
