Test Over... They Failed

Beheading of Wife Poses Another Test for U.S. Muslims
The crime was so brutal, shocking and rife with the worst possible stereotypes about their faith that some U.S. Muslims thought the initial reports were a hoax.

The harsh reality of what happened in an affluent suburb of Buffalo, New York — the beheading of 37-year-old Aasiya Hassan and arrest of her estranged husband in the killing — is another crucible for American Muslims.
Whaaaat? Beheaded? The hell you say? Sigh! Gasp! Woe! Stop "testing" the poor Muslims! Haven't they been through enough already? So many Muslim lives were lost on the high-jacked planes on September 11th, all but one of the Muslims in the Mumbai siege were killed, and don't forget the daily death toll that keeps mounting from those darn explosive belts. How very mendacious of the AP to write this story as if this type of event is a rarity, rather than as common as Paris Hilton at Buckingham Palace. But are you really surprised?

Feelings ... Woah Woah Woah ... Feelings!

A girls basketball team is being taken to task for winning. The Covenant School trounced the opposing team from Dallas Academy 100-0 and for that bit of excellence they must be punished. The school is seeking to forfeit the game and has already apologized on their website for winning "without honor" - whatever that means, though it seems meant to imply cheating. To top it all off, the coach of the winning team has been fired. Why? For refusing to apologize for coaching a winning team.

Rather than using this as an opportunity to teach the worsted team how to lose with grace and dignity it's been turned into a opportunity to shame and chagrin the team that won. All because the opposing team might have been made to feel bad. Remember, it's about feelings these days. You should hold back your excellence least you offend the less talented. Remember the liberal mantra: spread the mediocrity.

By nature all men are equal in liberty, but not in other endowments. ~ Thomas Aquinas

Perfect Is The Enemy Of Better

Getting tired of bailouts and gloom and doom and we gotta fix this and we gotta fix that? Tired of weenies that scream when they see the word "peanut"? Tired of blue ribbons for everyone and the death of first place? Me too. So is Orson Bean over at Big Hollywood:
“What puts the musk in muskrat? Courage!” Thus sings the great Bert Lahr in THE WIZARD OF OZ. Courage. In what short supply is this emotion in our country today. My wife and I just finished watching the HBO miniseries JOHN ADAMS. How brave our founding fathers were. And their fellow colonists as well. Children were not coddled. They learned at their parents’ knees that life was hardscrabble and nothing came easy. Freedom was worth fighting for. Divine Providence was what they relied on, but they knew that God demanded that they do their parts. No sense of entitlement, just hard work, struggle and fighting for what you wanted. And if it didn’t come, no whining, just rolling up of sleeves and starting over.
Life's tough, wear a cup.

We Shall Overcome! Stomp On Your Face!

Phyllis Burgess learned first hand that the left's tolerance extends only so far as you agree with them. Go beyond that and you're open to being physically attacked:
The woman at the center of a disturbance that erupted on Friday at a protest against the gay marriage ban says she plans to press charges.

Phyllis Burgess alleges that she was assaulted as she carried a Styrofoam cross through the crowd at a No on Proposition 8 rally in front of Palm Springs City Hall.

As reported on mydesert.com, the 69-year-old Palm Springs resident originally declined to press charges when asked by police and joked that she felt lucky — that at least she didn't lose her wig in the tussle like Cloris Leachman did on “Dancing with the Stars.”

“I guess I didn't see the gravity of the whole thing and how it was being portrayed to the public,” Burgess said. “People are incensed. They seem to want some kind of justice.”

What was planned as a peaceful candlelight service took a hostile turn when the crowd began pushing and a cross was torn from Burgess' arms. The cross ended up in pieces on the ground.

The crowd chanted, “Go home!” “Nazi!” and “Shame on you!” as organizers pleaded with the crowd to ignore the woman. About 500 protesters attended the event, the largest in the county since 52 percent of voters approved Proposition 8, an amendment that banned same-sex marriage.
Don't you just love the lost irony? They were calling her a "Nazi" while they behaved like... well... Nazis. What part of "peaceably to assemble" don't they get? Here's the video:

Yes that's right. The gays aren't going to be bullied by ferocious little old Christian women anymore! Take that you elderly thug! It didn't end there either. When a reporter tried to interview Ms. Burgess later the same queens who attacked her earlier gave a repeat performance and they both had to flee for safety:

Oh those courageous homos! Stomping on crosses for equal rights! What also gets my dander up is that I know that 99.9% of the people protesting didn't take advantage of the right to marry and have no intention of doing so even if Prop 8 is overturned; including that charming gentleman in the white shirt. Here's a hint, a black shirt would be more slimming.

Now don't get me wrong, this is a contentious issue. After all, we're talking about changes to millennia of cultural tradition. I disagree with Ms. Burgess. I think think that people who want to get married should be able too; it's a matter of equal rights plain and simple. Personally I think the whole argument boils down to semantics, i.e. the word "marriage." Well fine, don't call it marriage. Exempt religious institutions from having to recognize it. As long as the rights, privileges, and duties are the same I don't care if we call it Blueberry Sherbet.

I wonder if Joe.My.God will share the outrage? No, no, of course not. He only gets his tits in a twist if someone says
boo! to a gehy. Oh and circuit parties; he gets them twisted at circuit parties too.

The people responsible for this insanity do not speak for me, and the rest of you have my sincere apologies for my fellow gays' stupidity.

Thomas Beatie Redux

Just found this in the comments section here, regarding all the brouhaha over Thomas Beatie, the 'pregnant" man:
Okay, all of you "tolerant, open-minded, enlightened" college types...Let's try this once again:

A person who has a penis is a male.

A person who has a vagina is a female.

I've met grade-school kids who understood this....why don't any of you?

However, I would be willing to concede to your viewpoint...as long as you ALSO acknowledge the following:

1) Wearing black shoe polish on his face & singing "Mammy" meant that Al Jolson was an African-American.

2) Marcel Marceau REALLY DID pull on an invisible rope & walk against a strong wind whenever he performed on-stage.

3) Since he was always kissing Doris Day, Rock Hudson was a heterosexual.

As long as you continue to focus solely upon the esoteric superficialities to rationalize your egregiously contorted viewpoint, all of the above examples are as accurate as the claim that Thomas Beatie is a male.

Or, maybe, it's just like the saying: Being "open-minded" means you'll believe pretty much anything you're told...no matter how ridiculous it is.
Very good point...

Let's Take A Pregnant Pause...

Thomas is not a pregnant man... He's a female who has taken testosterone which has emphasized masculine traits. He is not a pregnant man! There is no such thing. He is a pregnant woman with artificially hyper-emphasized masculine traits.
