Analogy FAIL!

As Kathleen says: You can't make this stuff up...
Chris Van Hollen of Maryland, chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee said THIS about Ted Kennedy's Senate seat..."Why would you hand the keys to the car back to the same guys whose policies drove the economy into the ditch and then walked away from the scene of the accident?"
Mary Jo Kopechne was unavailable for comment.

Leaving America In The Car

Apparently Ted Kennedy was willing to deal with Soviet Union. No, not to protect and defend America and the West, but rather to get a Democrat (most likely himself) elected President.

Ted Kennedy's Soviet Gambit
Kennedy's message was simple. He proposed an unabashed quid pro quo. Kennedy would lend Andropov a hand in dealing with President Reagan. In return, the Soviet leader would lend the Democratic Party a hand in challenging Reagan in the 1984 presidential election. "The only real potential threats to Reagan are problems of war and peace and Soviet-American relations," the memorandum stated. "These issues, according to the senator, will without a doubt become the most important of the election campaign." [...]

"Tunney remarked that the senator wants to run for president in 1988," the memorandum continued. "Kennedy does not discount that during the 1984 campaign, the Democratic Party may officially turn to him to lead the fight against the Republicans and elect their candidate president."

Kennedy proved eager to deal with Andropov--the leader of the Soviet Union, a former director of the KGB and a principal mover in both the crushing of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution and the suppression of the 1968 Prague Spring--at least in part to advance his own political prospects.
Apparently swimming away wasn't a one time thing. He tried to do it to the whole nation.

Ted Kennedy

The news that Ted Kennedy has been diagnosed with brain cancer is horrible. Cancer of different kinds has taken a toll on my family as well, and I wish it's evil on no one. I wish Senator Kennedy no ill will and I offer my prayers for him and his family. Still, I find it hard to muster much sympathy for the man.

Ted Kennedy Hospitalized

Ted Kennedy Conscious, Talking, After Hospitalization For Seizures
Senator Edward M. Kennedy was rushed from his Hyannisport home to Massachusetts General Hospital this morning after an apparent seizure. One government official said the 76-year-old senator suffered a second seizure aboard a helicopter transport flight from the Cape to Boston.

Kennedy’s Senate office released a written statement just after 2 p.m. today offering the first official confirmation, saying, "It appears that Senator Kennedy experienced a seizure this morning. He is undergoing a battery of tests at Massachusetts General Hospital to determine the cause of the seizure. Senator Kennedy is resting comfortably, and it is unlikely we will know anything more for the next 48 hours."
Mary Jo Kopechne was unavailable for comment.
