A Liberal's Nightmare Indeed

I remembered this post from Scott-o-Rama (blogger, turned censor more than once, turned ex-blogger) early on in the primaries:
There are some rumors going around the Internets about who John McCain, having pretty much sealed the deal of being the Republican nominee, will pick as his running mate. Choosing the Vice Presidential candidate for a ticket is an extremely strategic decision. The running mate is often used to court groups whom the Presidential candidate has not yet won over. In this case McCain still is not popular among the ultra-conservatives, so he most likely will pick a running mate who is.

Some of the names being floated:
  • Mike Huckabee, the "my-son-shoots-dogs" creationist who is popular among religious Neanderthals zealots;
  • South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford, who garnered a lifetime rating of 92 from the American Conservative Union;
  • Jeb Bush. Do I even need to explain why this gives me nightmares?
Keep in mind that McCain is not sure if he would seek a second term if elected due to his age, so one of these men could be the front-runner for the 2012 election.
I can only imagine that those nightmares became night-terrors and endless days of bloodshot eyes after McCain picked Palin.

Scott-o-Rama, Still Partisanly Hackish

Scott-o-Rama just can't help himself. He can't let the truth get in the way of a good screed.
The Arizona Republic recently tried to figure out who McCain might pick for his cabinet if elected. Their predictions:
  • Sen. Joe Lieberman, I-Conn., in a prominent job, possibly even secretary of State;
  • Former Sen. Fred Thompson, R-Tenn., as attorney general;
  • Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani as Homeland Security secretary;
  • Former Sen. Phil Gramm of Texas as Treasury secretary;
  • Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee as Health and Human Services secretary.
Notice anything about these choices? With the possible exception of Liberman being Jewish, not a single minority group is represented. I guess we can look forward to another four to eight years of the government being run by rich, white men should McCain be elected.
Several things are wrong with this post. First of all, Scott is using possible McCain appointments to disparage conservatives. Second, that's only five possible choices from dozens and dozens of administrative appointments to be made; one of which will never, ever happen "aaaach-uckabee-hoo". Pardon me. Third, it ignores the fact (that's F-A-C-T, FACT, Scott) that George W. Bush, a Republican, has had the most diverse cabinet in the history of the United States. Here's a little reading for you on Bush's appointments...
Diversity in the Cabinet: Will the Democrats equal Bush & Sarkozy?

Bush is opening doors with a diverse Cabinet
Scott rarely let's facts slow his rhetoric though, so forgive him.

Heil Fred!

Scott-o-Rama on Fred Thompson: In reading his positions on the different topics, it became apparent to me that Thompson is a thinly-veiled white supremacist. Or at least that’s the way he comes off.

Good grief! Think Scott needs to take it down a notch?

Keep On Pretending Scott

I posted a comment about the following story over at Scott-o-Rama's site on his post Let's Pretend II, but since it disagrees with his worldview and most likely will never see the light of day or be deleted milliseconds after appearing (how's that for the Left's openness and tolerance? You're welcome to an opinion...as long as it's theirs!) I'll post about it here too. FYI, it seems Scott-o-Rama has also banned That Gay Conservative from accessing his site or commenting on it. I guess we should also "pretend" that Scott-o-Rama believes in actual debate and conversation.

The comment was about this story:
Spy Chief Reveals Classified Details

National Intelligence Director Mike McConnell pulled the curtain back on previously classified details of government surveillance and of a secretive court whose recent rulings created new hurdles for the Bush administration as it tries to prevent terrorism.

—Offering never-disclosed figures, McConnell also revealed that fewer than 100 people inside the United States are monitored under FISA warrants. However, he said, thousands of people overseas are monitored.

McConnell's comments were a dramatic departure from the government's normally tight-lipped approach to disclosing any information about how it spies on electronic communications—some of its most sensitive and costly work. The FISA court's activities are particularly protected.

Even as he shed new light on the classified operations, McConnell asserted that the current debate in Congress about whether to update the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act will cost American lives because of all the information it revealed to terrorists.

"Part of this is a classified world. The fact that we're doing it this way means that some Americans are going to die," he said.
Oh yeah, that wire-tapping is just out of control. 100 people in the United States monitored under warrant! Never mind the fact that the left's whining and moaning - obviously about nothing - has made us more vulnerable to the Jihadists and who knows what other enemies, even as the threats to our nation have increased. Just so they don't have to worry about buying Scotts Turf Builder.

(Just for the record, it's Scott's blog and he can ban anyone he likes, but he shouldn't "pretend" he values openness and free discussion if he's going to do so...)

Free And Open Debate? Not At Scott-o-Rama

Scott at Scott-o-Rama seems to dislike like the fact that someone disagreed with him. So he seems to have begun deleting my comments at his site. Several - but not all - comments I've made over the weekend have disappeared and one that I made today has vaporized as well. The one that is still there is one he replied too. Apparently he wants an echo chamber...not a discussion. Hey, it's his blog, but for someone who rants about supposedly losing his freedom of speech, it seems quite odd, no?

If I'm wrong, and my comments have merely been...overlooked, then I apologize.
