How Long Will The First One Last?

California's First Gay Marriage On June 17

So how long until the first gay divorce? I say the first lesbian couple married will be the first to divorce after less than 3 months. They'll immediately claim it's discriminatory to apply the divorce laws to them.

Imagine...Criminals Acting Like Criminals...

Six Illegal Immigrants Arrested At Qualcomm
Six undocumented Mexican immigrants were arrested today by U.S. Border Patrol agents at Qualcomm Stadium, after a report that they were stealing food and water meant for evacuees, according to spokesman Damon Foreman.

San Diego police responded to a call about alleged theft from the evacuation center and encountered six people in a van who didn't speak English and didn't have California driver's licenses, Foreman said. The police officers called the Border Patrol, who arrived at the stadium and made the arrests, he said. Foreman said the immigrants admitted they were Mexican citizens and that they were stealing.
While the story itself isn't surprising, there are two amazing things to be gleaned from it.

First, that the LA Times actually used the word "illegal" to describe these criminals, even though they stumbled back to P.C. land in the story and called them "undocumented Mexican immigrants". Hey, I
guess they were just stealing the supplies that Americans didn't want to steal.

Second, the outrageous statement by our so-called "Border Patrol" that they "...are not in any means at Qualcomm for enforcement capacity..." No wonder we're being overrun by the third world hordes, we're all but escorting them into the country.

Liberal Hypocrisy Burns Like Wildfire

So apparently President Bush just can't win with the liberals. Remember how he was criticized for not visiting the Gulf Coast soon enough after Katrina? Well now he's being raked over the burning coals of the California fires for visiting too soon. Yeah, you read that right. Here's a sample of California's Lt. Governor practicing partisanship over public service while being interviewed by Chris Matthews of MSNBC, via NewsBusters:
CHRIS MATTHEWS: Is the federal government doing what it has to do here?

Lt. Governor JOHN GARAMENDI (D-CA): Well, they're doing a lot and we appreciate what they have done thus far. Resources are coming in. The U.S. Forest Service, 70 units from Arizona and Nevada and all that's good. I got some doubt about the value of President Bush coming out here...

MATTHEWS: Do you think it's public relations rather than action?

GARAMENDI: Of course it's public relations. The action's taking place by the hard-working firefighters, the men and women and the police that are out there on the line and the community that's pulling together to support each other, that's where the action is taking place. I know -- okay, President Bush comes out, we'll be polite. But frankly, that's not the solution. How about sending our National Guard back from Iraq? So that we have those people available here to help us?
Never mind that there are 17,000 National Guardsmen available that aren't needed. Do the moonbats have any concept of how hypocritical they appear to the average American? Do they care? It's just amazing how blatant they are in their partisan stupidity.

Interesting. Frightening.

FBI: al-Qaeda Detainee Spoke Of Fire Plot
The FBI alerted law enforcement agencies last month that an al-Qaeda terrorist now in detention had talked of masterminding a plot to set a series of devastating forest fires around the western United States. [...]

The [Arizona] Republic reported that the detainee, who was not identified, said the plan involved three or four people setting wildfires using timed devices in Colorado, Montana, Utah and Wyoming that would detonate in forests and grasslands after the operatives had left the country.

The memo noted that investigators couldn't determine whether the detainee was telling the truth.
I have to admit that this crossed my mind before I heard about this story. Unlikely? Yes. Possible? Definitely.

Hey, I'm just saying...

The California wildfires are just horrible. We should all be thankful for the men and women who are willing to risk their lives to fight the wild fires that are causing so much damage and disruption.

This disaster does raise a very interesting question though. How about that George W. Bush, huh? He is doing a super job of managing this disaster. There are no photos of looting. Qualcomm Stadium is a model of organization and civility. People are evacuating quickly and orderly when told, and some of them even had planned for evacuation beforehand! So if hurricane Katrina was all W's fault, then the superb handling of the Southern California wildfire disaster must also be his doing. Or maybe, just maybe, it's because the state and local authorities were prepared and ready to act, and the people affected didn't sit on their hands and wait for Nanny Government to come and personally carry them out of their homes.

Hey, I'm just saying...
