Stupid Hippies

English Hippies Want Local Wi-Fi Network Turned Off
Turn off that Wi-Fi network — it's disturbing our chakras.

That's what many residents of Glastonbury, a lovely medieval town turned New Age hub in southwestern England, are demanding the local government do.

Ever since the town's free municipal wireless broadband network went online in May, people have been complaining of, as an online petition puts it, "headaches, dizziness, nausea, severe tiredness, brain fog, disorientation and loss of appetite, loss of balance, inability to concentrate, loss of creativity" — all ailments an examining physician would find it difficult to prove or disprove.

"This place is not appropriate for a Wi-Fi trial," resident Linda Taylor tells the local Fosse Way magazine. "People are complaining of headaches, tingling skin among other symptoms. This makes me wonder what is it doing to the children." [...]

One man has even begun making orgone generators, which use crystals, semi-precious stones and gold to purportedly put out positive energy to combat the negative vibes flooding the town from the Wi-Fi base stations.

"I have given a number of generators to shops in the High Street and hidden others in bushes in the immediate vicinity of the antennae. That way you can bring back the balance," Matt Todd told the Telegraph. "The science hasn't really got into the mainstream because the government won't make decisions which will affect big business, even if it concerns everyone's health."
I'll tell you what's it doing to the children, it's giving them a chance to access real health and science information that might be able to counteract some of the bullsh-t you're feeding into their soft little brains. If the wi-fi network isn't being used then take it down; but please don't turn it off just because these jello brained loonies think it's messing up their chakras. Sheesh!

It's All About Choices...

UK School Cancels Christmas Nativity In Favour Of Muslim Eid Celebrations
Greenwood Junior School sent out a letter to parents saying the three-day festival of Eid al-Adha, which takes place between December 8 and 11, meant that Muslim children would be off school.

That meant planning for the traditional nativity play were shelved because the school felt it would be too difficult to run both celebrations side by side.

The move has left parents furious. [...]

Following outrage from parents, the school was forced to send out a second letter saying that the Christmas play would be done in January.

Sent by the head teacher, Amber Latif, and Yvonne Wright, chair of governors, it apologised for "any misunderstanding" but said it had to respect "the cultures and religions of all the children".

It added: "The Christmas performance has not been cancelled outright but has been postponed until the New Year."
Now, I can understand the school's choice to move the Christmas celebration. After all, the Christians aren't very likely to go wacky and riot or take hostages over a slight offense. Still, here's how it should work; if no other accommodation can be made the Muslim children and their parents have a choice to make: do they want to be in the Christmas Pageant or do they want to celebrate Eid? The school could also move the Eid observance to January. The Muslims could also send their children to a Muslim school, but given the already great failure to matriculate into British culture I'm not sure I'd encourage that.

Only A Brit!

A Can Do British Attitude
If Briton Nick Hayward had finished his meal at the Taj Mahal hotel 30 seconds later, he would have been caught in the gunfire. [...]

‘I was extremely lucky. I was with a very good bunch of people. Three or four of us were Brits. There were some Irish as well. Most were Indian.

'We’d never met each other but I have to say, it was a true British stiff upper-lip situation. Together, the Brits helped to keep up morale.

‘There was a can-do attitude. We thought, 'Let’s get the barricades done, let’s do the practical things rather than sit there like sheep and wait to meet our fate.' [...]

Nick added: ‘We all decided that even though we had alcohol within reach we wouldn’t touch it because it seemed like a bad idea to get drunk.

‘But come 5am, we were fairly confident the police were going to get us out, so I marched over to the bar and found a bottle of vintage Cristal champagne and opened it and began pouring it into glasses.

‘Then the head waiter came rushing across to me and said, “No, no, you can’t do that!” and I said, 'Well we’re going to' and he said, 'No sir, those are the wrong type of glasses. I shall find you champagne flutes.'

'And he did. The service was immaculate.
A stiff upper lip and an appreciation for good manners... in the middle of a terrorist attack. God bless England and her children!

Muslims Bash Gay Man In London

A gay man has been left paralyzed after an attack in London:
A 15-YEAR-OLD has appeared in court charged with a "serious homophobic attack" on a gay man who has been left permanently paralysed from the waist down.

The teenager, who can not be named for legal reasons, spoke only to confirm his name and East Ham address at Thames Youth Court in Bow yesterday.

Dressed in a white hooded top and dark jeans, the Asian youth at one point held his head in his hands.

Police had earlier charged him with homophobic aggravated assault with intent, occasioning grievous bodily harm.
Was it a bunch of right wing thugs from the British National Party? No. Soccer hooligans out for a night of drinking and carousing? Nope. It was a group of Muslims - identified in liberal Brit parlance as "Asian youth" - that stabbed and beat the man. It's not just England either; attacks like this are becoming all too common in once liberal bastions of Western Europe which are being inundated by Muslim immigration. I would imagine this "Asian youth" is going to demand - as a matter of "human rights" mind you - that he be tried by one of Britain's new Sharia Courts - where his attempt to rid the world of another dirty infidel will be truly appreciated.

Speeding Toward The Precipice In Britain

The precipice being the collapse of Western Civilization in our mother country. Britain Adopts Islamic Law, Gives Sharia Courts Full Power To Rule On Civil Cases:
Islamic law has been officially adopted in Britain, with sharia courts given powers to rule on Muslim civil cases.

The government has quietly sanctioned the powers for sharia judges to rule on cases ranging from divorce and financial disputes to those involving domestic violence.

Rulings issued by a network of five sharia courts are enforceable with the full power of the judicial system, through county courts or the country's High Court, a part of its Supreme Court system.
It's ironic that in the week of the anniversary of one of the greatest victories of the West over Islam, that Britain - long a defender of Europe and the West - would quietly announce that it has surrendered to Islam. Today it's civil cases but how long until people are being stoned in Trafalgar Square for adultery? How long until shoplifters in Muslim establishments are having their hands cut off? How long until the first Brit is beheaded in the Tower of London for disparaging the prophet (pbbbt on his name). How much longer does Europe have?

Political Correctness: It Will Be The Death Of Us

From Debbie Schlussel...

Which is True-- Weight Watchers No Longer Allowed to Target Fat People . . . Or Explosives-Sniffing Dogs No Longer Allowed to Go Near Muslims?

You guessed right! Muslims are using their religion to avoid security checks.
POLICE sniffer dogs trained to spot terrorists at railway stations may no longer come into contact with Muslim passengers - after complaints that it is against the suspects' religion.

A report for the Transport Department has raised the prospect that the animals should only touch passengers' luggage because it is considered "more acceptable".

In the Muslim faith, dogs are deemed to be spiritually "unclean". But banning them from touching passengers would severely restrict their ability to do their job.

The report follows trials of station security measures in the wake of the 2005 London suicide bomb attacks. In one trial, some female Muslims said the use of a body scanner was also unacceptable because it was tantamount to being forced to strip. [DS: How 'bout being forced to leave Britain?] . . .

The report concluded: "The use of sniffer dogs was generally problematic for Muslim respondents on religious grounds if there was the potential for the dog to make direct contact with them." . . .

Massoud Shadjareh, chairman of the Islamic Human Rights Commission, said even dogs touching baggage would be an issue for a Muslim preparing to pray. But he stressed that it should be easy to allow dogs to check passengers without physical contact.

"There is a way of dealing with this and we just need to be sensitive," he said.
No bomb-sniffing dogs, no body scanners, no nothing. I guess we'll just politely ask them if they're carrying any weapons or explosives and trust anyone up to no good to just be honest and go home.

Now, I know that democracy, freedom, and open societies are new concepts for the "Religion of Peace" so here's a little tip for them: your freedom of religion ends at the ticket counter at the airport. Everyone's does. As for feeling like your culture isn't being "respected" - that's not part of the whole life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness package. Grow up.

As Debbie said: We've been waaaay too sensitive already to these people. Yet another example how Greater Barbaria demands the civilized West accommodate them and not the other way around. It'll be the death of us.

To The Right Old Chaps! Tally Ho!

Labour Loses... Tories On Top... Former Lord Mayor "Red Ken" Given The Boot
Results released early Saturday showed Boris Johnson defeating Ken Livingstone in Labour's first test at the polls since then-Prime Minister Tony Blair handed the reins last year to Gordon Brown, who has since been dogged by accusations of indecision and incompetence.

Voters also picked opposition candidates in more than 300 municipal council races, prompting Brown to humbly pledge to heed the scathing verdict.

Conservative leader David Cameron said his party's strong gains represented a key moment on the path to ousting Brown at the next national election, to be held before mid-2010.

"Three years ago the idea that the Conservatives would win London and build up a 20-point lead across the county would have been literally unthinkable," Cameron said.

"I do hope that it does show that the Conservatives have changed into a party that can again be trusted," Johnson said, shortly after the result was announced to cheers from raucous supporters. "Let's get cracking tomorrow and let's have a drink tonight."
Hmmm... Could something be afoot in Europe?

Rubbish!

That is to say the survey about recycling garden rubbish recently sent out by the Leeds (United Kingdom) City Council is rubbish. Apparently they are under the impression that everything from ones sexual orientation to religious faith and relationship status somehow affects their ability to offer trash collection services.

I have a feeling they're going to be extra busy recycling all that paper they wasted printing those stupid little cards. Serves them right for sticking their bureaucratic nose where it doesn't belong...

Oh England...Wither Goest Thou?

Christmas Should Be 'Downgraded' To Help Race Relations Says Labour Think Tank
Christmas should be downgraded in favour of festivals from other religions to improve race relations, says an explosive report.

Labour's favourite think-tank says that because it would be hard to "expunge" Christmas from the national calendar, 'even-handedness' means public organisations must start giving other religions equal footing.

The report robustly defends multiculturalism - the idea that different communities should not be forced to integrate but should be allowed to maintain their own culture and identities.

And it says immigrants should be required to acquire some proficiency in English and other aspects of British culture "if - but only if - the settled population is willing to open up national institutions and practices to newcomers and give a more inclusive cast to national narratives and symbols".

It adds: "Even-handedness dictates that we provide public recognition to minority cultures and traditions.

"If we are going to continue as a nation to mark Christmas - and it would be very hard to expunge it from our national life even if we wanted to - then public organisations should mark other religious festivals too.

"We can no longer define ourselves as a Christian nation, nor an especially religious one in any sense.

"The empire is gone, church attendance is at historically low levels, and the Second World War is inexorably slipping from memory."
Thank God my family left 250 years ago. There is a note of sanity in this story though, ironically sounded by a British Muslim, Sayeeda Warsi, the Conservative spokesman on community cohesion who said:
"Their comments betray a breathtaking misunderstanding of what it is to be British. These proposals could actually damage cohesion."

She added: "You don't build community cohesion by throwing out our history and denying the fundamental contribution Christianity has played and does play to our nation.

"As a British Muslim I can see that - so why others can't just staggers me."

And she attacked ceremonies to mark the registration of a baby.

"The thought of Gordon Brown sharing responsibility with me for bringing up my children sends a shiver down my spine. I thought we got rid of communism?"
Someone give Ms. Warsi a job with more power...now!

Lunacy across the Pond

I do love the Brits, our staunchest allies, but every now and then they get a bit loopy!

HAS George Clooney sold his last Martini? Will macho heart-throbs never again seduce women into taking another glass?

Drinks companies have been ordered to hire paunchy, balding men for advertisements to meet new rules forbidding any link between women’s drinking and sex. Watchdogs have issued a list of undesirable male characteristics that advertisers must abide by in order to comply with tougher rules designed to separate alcohol from sexual success.

Lambrini, the popular sparkling drink, is the first to suffer. Its manufacturers have complained after watchdogs rejected its latest campaign because it depicted women flirting with a man who was deemed too attractive.

The offending poster featured three women “hooking” a slim, young man in a parody of a fairground game scene. Harmless fun to lead its summer campaign, Lambrini argued. But the Committee of Advertising Practice declared: “We would advise that the man in the picture should be unattractive — overweight, middle-aged, balding etc.”

The ruling continued: “We consider that the advert is in danger of implying that the drink may bring sexual/social success, because the man in question looks quite attractive and desirable to the girls. If the man was clearly unattractive, we think that this implication would be removed.”
