God Rest Ye, Merry Gentlemen - Jars of Clay - listen now

Monday, October 10, 2005

It's time to celebrate the man that discovered this great land that you and I call home. Now I know that much controversy surrounds Mr. Columbus and the discovery of the New World, but even so, aren't we glad he made the trip? We live in the most free nation in the world. A nation of endless opportunity (if you get off your ass and work for it). A nation of generosity and kindness. Is it flawed? Hell yes, we're only human. Does it need improvement? Well, they don't call it the "great experiment" for nothing. Still, we should be proud of all we've accomplished, and honor the people like Columbus who helped pave the way and give us the opportunity.

Tom Purcell offers some background of good ol' Christopher Columbus. [ hat tip: Neal Boortz ]
