MYTH OF THE MODERATE MUSLIM
Jihad Watch posted an excellent essay on July 26, 2005 about The myth of the 'moderate' Muslim. His central point: there are moderate Muslims, but Islam itself is not moderate.
Jason Pappas at Liberty & Culture blog also posted on moderate muslims on July 26, 2005, Does Moderate Islam Exist?. He quotes Lawrence Auster who said: "...it's not just that moderate Islam does not presently exist in any meaningful form. It's that moderate Islam cannot exist."
Lawrence Auster wrote an excellent two part article on the subject at FrontPage Magazine:
The Search for Moderate Islam: Part I, Does it exist?
The Search for Moderate Islam: Part II, If it doesn't exist, then what?
My question is: if moderate muslims are so upset at the 'hi-jacking' of their religion by radicals, they why aren't we hearing their voices raised loudly in protest? I wouldn't expect them to hold a demonstration in Mecca, but what about here or in England where their message would be welcome? As far as I'm concerned their silence speaks louder than words.
