God Rest Ye, Merry Gentlemen - Jars of Clay - listen now

Monday, November 21, 2005

Listen carefully because I'm only going to say this once, and then I might delete the post and deny I ever said it. Cynthia McKinney has more guts and more principle than most other Democrats in the House of Representatives. Not that that's saying much.

Why, you might ask, do I have hesitantly kind words for Ms. McKinney? She voted yes on the resolution last Friday, calling for the immediate withdrawal of our troops from Iraq.

The resolution “that the deployment of United States forces in Iraq be terminated immediately” at 11:33 PM last night was 403-3. Only three of the cut and run members of congress were willing to put their vote where their mouths have been. They were Cynthia McKinney (D-Georgia,) Jose Serrano (D-New York,) and Robert Wexler (D-Florida.)

While I disagree with her on everything (yes - everything) including a cut-and-run from Iraq, and while I'm ashamed to call her my Representative, you gotta give her credit for at least saying what she means and meaning what she says.
