FIRED CBS NEWS PRODUCER UNREPENTANT
Here's what Mapes - a Class A nutjob - thinks, none of it really quite surprising:
- "I don't think I committed bad journalism. I really don't,"
- Mapes says she believes the panel's findings were used by CBS President Les Moonves as a pretext to remove Dan Rather as anchor of the "CBS Evening News."
- Mapes says Rather did not have "any obligation to resign" from his position,
- Denial is just a river in Egypt
Mary also believes that she had "no journalistic obligation to prove the authenticity of the documents before including them in the '60 Minutes II' report. I don't think that's the standard..." WTF? Now correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it important to know that your sources are authentic when you are reporting news? I mean really, what's the alternative? We might as well get marital counseling from the "Desperate Housewives," watch "Grey's Anatomy" to diagnose our illnesses, and ask "Commander in Chief" Geena Davis to lay out a withdrawal plan for our troops in Iraq. Reality=Fiction, Truth=Lies, War=Peace. See you later for the minute of hate!
I guess if you're desperate to clear your name after a horribly embarrassing revelation that you betrayed your profession for political goals, this is what you do.
