John Stossel says that our legal system is
unequal. He's right. Lawyers and increasingly litigious citizens are able to sue and sue and sue until they win a case. For example in the big tobacco lawsuits over 700 cases were lost before juries started siding with the stupid idiots who somehow seemed to have missed the fact that cigarettes aren't good for you. What does it cost these Tort Warriors if they lose? Not much.
Stossel advocates that America adopt the legal principle of "loser pays." The rest of the world uses this rule in their legal system and its about time America did the same. A few multi-million dollar losses might make at least some tort lawyers - even those that can channel the dead - think twice before suing without good grounds.
Unfortunatley, the people who have to pass such reform are (drum roll please) lawyers. So it ain't gonna happen. It's like expecting politicians to impose term limits on themselves. What possible reason could they have for removing their snouts from the public trough?
What do you call 1,000 lawyers at the bottom of the ocean? An excellent start.

I've got a decent tort case (auto accident) going right now. It's a shame that the attorney gets 30%
Call me a wing nut, but I love the idea of loser pays. It ensures that the working poor who can only afford a crappy lawyer (Department of Redundancy Department) will NEVER win a case against corporate America.
Have to fly, my black helicopter is landing . . . .
