DNA Testing Proves Executed Virginia Prisoner's Guilt
From Fox News/AP:
"An innocent man is going to be murdered tonight," the 33-year-old [McCoy] said moments before he was electrocuted. "When my innocence is proven, I hope America will realize the injustice of the death penalty as all other civilized countries have."McCoy was executed in 1992 for the rape and murder of his sister-in-law in 1981. He went to chair proclaiming his innocence and had many supporters who, for whatever reason, believed him. Except that it turns out he was guilty. Now this doesn't really have a weighty effect on the death penalty argument, but we hear so much, so often about how the system screws-up it's nice to know that we did get this right and the bastard got what he deserved.
