Wake Up And Smell The Jihad

Not all Muslims are radical jihadists but all radical jihadists are Muslim. What do they want? Islamic law! Who do they want it for? You. When do they want it? Yesterday. Mark Steyn lays it on the line here.
It's not surprising when you're as heavily invested as the European establishment is in an absurd equivalence between a nuclear madman who thinks he's the warm-up act for the Twelfth Imam and the fellows building the Israeli security fence that you lose all sense of proportion when it comes to your own backyard, too. "Radical young Jewish men" are no threat to "Arab-run groceries." But radical young Muslim men are changing the realities of daily life for Jews and gays and women in Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Oslo and beyond. If you don't care for the Yids, big deal; look out for yourself. The Jews are playing their traditional role of the canaries in history's coal mine.

Something very remarkable is happening around the globe and, if you want the short version, a Muslim demonstrator in Toronto the other day put it very well:

''We won't stop the protests until the world obeys Islamic law.''
And of course, the West - particularly Europe - wants to pretend the Muslims don't really mean it. But they, and America, are in a battle for self-determination.
What, in the end, are all these supposedly unconnected matters from Danish cartoons to the murder of a Dutch filmmaker to gender-segregated swimming sessions in French municipal pools about? Answer: sovereignty. Islam claims universal jurisdiction and always has. The only difference is that they're now acting upon it. The signature act of the new age was the seizure of the U.S. Embassy in Tehran: Even hostile states generally respect the convention that diplomatic missions are the sovereign territory of their respective countries. Tehran then advanced to claiming jurisdiction over the citizens of sovereign states and killing them -- as it did to Salman Rushdie's translators and publishers. Now in the cartoon jihad and other episodes, the restraints of Islamic law are being extended piecemeal to the advanced world, by intimidation and violence but also by the usual cooing promotion of a spurious multicultural "respect" by Bill Clinton, the United Church of Canada, European foreign ministers, etc.

The I'd-like-to-teach-the-world-to-sing-in-perfect-harmonee crowd have always spoken favorably of one-worldism. From the op-ed pages of Jutland newspapers to les banlieues of Paris, the Pan-Islamists are getting on with it.
The sooner we wake up, and quit pretending that we can somehow make peace with Islam, the sooner we can rid the world of the Islamic threat.

Anonymous is absolutely right. The best counteroffensive is to simply point and laugh.

Wasn't it just last week the Islamo-loonies were proving how peaceful their religion is by beating up on Ronald McDonald?

Nice blog! And QC, you are a good guy. Glad to have you as a brother in the Conservative movement.

Lori is right about laughing at Islam. I do that a lot on my blog too. Come visit sometime.

If we can't seem to reason out or perceive the bias with which the PC crowd indulges itself when they indulge in US self-loathing, I recommend that they look at "While Europe Slept", Bruce Bawer, Doubleday, 2006.
Bawer, a gay author and comentator, who wrote "A Place at the Table", about the emergence of gay franchise, writes about his experience in contemporary Europe and her "establishments" that control and influence the American image in those countries that lived securely behind the Cold War frontier lines held by the US. He portrays the policies of largesse and appeasement that have given the jihadists the anchor for their terror bases in Europe.
If reading this evaluation through the words of a gay observer doesn't strike fear through the lives of the homosexual communities of the world then we should just forget about the traditions of gay franchise in the world; Stonewall, The Mattachine Society and all that have followed.
I picked this book up last night and read it into this morning. As I read this type of work, I generally test for bias and motive.
As a former intelligencee officer who worked in counter-subversion in NATO countries, I usually find the trap-door of arguments.
Bawer's work has me, a gay male of 64 years, rightfully chilled, not just for me, but for all those who don't recognize the cold steel of the "jihadists" as nothing more than an ornament.
Truly, Bawer is saying he not only has smelled the "Jihad", but is watching it brewing in Europe.
