Gulf Regards DP World Outcry As "Racist"
One of Bahrain's top politicians has warned that the US row surrounding DP World's takeover of P&O has taken on a worryingly racist tenor.I might take that charge a tad more seriously if the Arab world, where Mein Kampf is a best seller, wasn't rife with racism, and slavery. In fact the United Arab Emirates is a primary destination country for slave trafficking.
For a taste of the Arab propensity toward racism, read the following here, here, and here. When I was in college my friend Bill had a roommate from Saudi Arabia. I remember Bill coming home from visiting his roommates parents at their home in Florida. He said that they all but kept their Philipino maid in chains and treated her like she was a dog. He mentioned it to his roommate and got a very "so what" reaction; his reponse was "we pay her to work, she should earn it." Uh, yeah, what lovely culture.
I for one don't intend to be cowed into silence with trumped up charges of racism, by the very people most responsible for its modern perpetuation.
