First, I hope that
Ben Roethlisberger makes a full recovery after his motorcycle accident. Second, he's a freakin' idiot and I hope he learned a lesson. You all know that I'm no fan of laws requiring seat-belts, helmets or any other "nanny state" nonsense. Grown men and women can make their own decisions, and we don't need a bunch of busy body legislators and bureaucrats thinking for us. But...this is a perfect example of actions having consequences; the price of being free. Ben is lucky he has
lived to tell the tale.
Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is in serious but stable condition and underwent surgery following a serious head injury he suffered this morning when his motorcycle collided with a car on Second Avenue near the 10th Street Bridge, police said.
Roethlisberger was reported still in surgery at 8:55 p.m. Steelers coach Bill Cowher arrived at Mercy Hospital at 9:20 p.m. He declined to answer questions from reporters.
Roethlisberger lost most of his teeth, fractured his left sinus cavity bone, suffered a nine-inch laceration to the back of his head and a broken jaw, and injured both of his knees when he hit the ground, police said.
Get well soon Ben, and buy a damn helmet.
