Ooooo Benedict XVI...You Have Made Us Very Angry - Very Angry Indeed!

UPDATE: Oh good grief... here they go again... "The Religion of Pieces" - are these the moderate Muslims? I'm really having a tough time making the distinction...

Pope's Remarks On Muslims Draw Outrage [ like that's hard to do? - qc ]
The pope quoted from a book recounting a conversation between 14th century Byzantine Christian Emperor Manuel Paleologos II and a Persian scholar on the truths of Christianity and Islam.

"The emperor comes to speak about the issue of jihad, holy war," the pope said.

"He said, I quote, 'Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached,"' he quoted the emperor as saying. He did not explicitly agree with them nor repudiate them.
Of course - and I know you'll find this unbelieveable and shocking - Muslims are highly offended by the Pope's remarks! They are after all the most easily offending culture in the universe. Why don't we save ink and trees and just write stories about Muslims not being offended by something? Salih Kapusuz, a deputy leader of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's party, said:
"He has a dark mentality that comes from the darkness of the Middle Ages. He is a poor thing that has not benefited from the spirit of reform in the Christian world," Kapusuz blurted out in comments made to the state-owned Anatolia news agency. "It looks like an effort to revive the mentality of the Crusades."
A "dark mentality"? This from the culture that buries women convicted of adultery in the ground up to their neck and then throws rocks at them until their skulls are crushed? Yeah right.

I love how anytime they are criticized for their modern day violent actions, Muslims immediately retreat to the Middle Ages and scream holy Jihad about the crusades. Note to the Muzzies: the crusades are over, Christianity is no longer sending vast armies to fight you (although I'm not so sure it shouldn't). We are more interested in the fact that here and now, in the twenty-first century, your religion is still nothing more than barbarism disguised as "faith."

Pakistan's Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Tasnim Aslam said: "Anyone who describes Islam as a religion as intolerant encourages violence..." Translation: Don't you dare call us violent or we'll get violent and do violence to you! Yeah, some religion they have there. I've said it before, I'll say it again, Islam is completely incompatible with the twenty-first century and Western Civilization. It's us or them people.
