You Have The Body

Let's get one thing straight about the Writ of Habeas Corpus. If the Founding Fathers didn't intend for the government to have the ability to suspend the Writ they wouldn't have said "The Privilege of the Writ of Habeas Corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in Cases of Rebellion or Invasion the public Safety may require it. ~ Article One, Section 9" Note one very important word there: "privilege." It's not the "right" of the Writ of Habeas Corpus.

So please, Charlie Rangel and all the other constitutional dunces out there who are up in arms about the Military Commissions Act of 2006, quit acting like the Writ is the bedrock of our Republic, 'cause it ain't.
