Facebook Group Lands USC Football Player In Hot Water

From the Daily Trojan:
An inside joke on the USC football team went awry when a Facebook group sparked outrage among students.

The racist Facebook group was created by a USC football player and showed a graphic of a black baby in handcuffs. An athletic department source said the group was a joke and had no serious purpose.

Junior linebacker Clay Matthews created the group, "White Nation," which featured a graphic with the caption, "arrest black babies before they become criminals."

Teammates David Buehler, Brian Cushing, Dan Deckas and Dallas Sartz joined the group.

"This group is not for the faint of heart," read the group's description. "All members are athletes of Caucasion (sic) descent. DISCLAIMER: In no way are the following memebers (sic) intolerant of others, we are just doing our duty of protecting the Arian (sic) brotherhood."

An athletic department source who wished to remain anonymous said the group was a joke and had no serious purpose.

The "joke" began when a black football player nicknamed some of his teammates "White Nation," the source said.
Wrong? Yes. Stupid? Yes. Do they deserve a smack up side the head with QC's baseball bat? Batter up!

Still, I have a real problem with such a brouhaha over something that was openly declared to be a joke from the get-go. The players got the idea from the nickname given to them by a black teammate! Imagine the roles reversed? What if a white player had given his black teammates an unflattering nickname? There'd still be outrage, and it would still be directed at the white players.

Meanwhile, groups like M.E.Ch.A, officially sanctioned by USC and other institutions of higher education around the country, call for revolution against the United States and the taking of our territory to create a new third world nation called Aztland (pronounced: Assland) in the desert Southwest. Note to the Asslanders: America didn't "steal" your land, we whipped your ass in a war - thank you very much General Scott! - and took it from you; and that's no joke. (Of course, if they take back California that means that Pelosi would be in the Mexican Congress... could there be an "upside" after all?)

Again, it seems like America's stupid adherence to political correctness will be its own undoing. Why do we need enemies?
