I've given President Bush hell when I thought he deserved it; over the Dubai Ports deal, the Harriet Myers nomination, his open borders and amnesty nonsense, and his overall stubbornness. I didn’t vote for the man in 2000 because I knew then he isn’t a conservative; he's a "religious progressive". I did vote for him in 2004 because things had drastically changed in the world, and John Kerry just simply wasn’t up to the task of leading a nation at war. But now...I think he's worn out his good will with me as a conservative and with his own party.
Hat tip to
Average Gay Joe for pointing to this article by Byron York that sums it up nicely:
Base to Bush: It's Over. Now, this is not to say that I want Bush impeached, or believe that he's the source of all evil in the world
like those suffering from
Bush Derangement Syndrome. But I am looking forward to having (
dear God please, please, please) a true, well spoken, conservative President as of noon on January 20, 2009.
