Major Minneapolis Bridge Collapses Over Mississippi River
MINNEAPOLIS — The I-35W highway bridge over the Mississippi River in Minneapolis collapsed during evening rush hour Wednesday, sending many cars and motorists into the water.DHS was certainly quick to declare that this wasn't terrorism related. It probably isn't, but could they have possibly made a definite determination so soon? We know bridges have been targeted before: the Mackinac Bridge in Michigan, the Brooklyn Bridge, and the Golden Gate. Still, sometimes a "collapse" is just a "collapse"...maybe...
A doctor confimed at least one person died due to drowning, at least six people suffered critical injuries and at least 22 people have minor injuries. Two other deaths have been reported.
God be with the dead and injured and their families.
UPDATE: And it didn't take long for this post to attract a "truther" in the comments section - who knew it was that easy? Before they start swarming, let me just clarify a bit. I'm not saying this was a terrorist attack in any way shape or form. In fact I believe it was just an accident, horrible and random. My only concern is that DHS seemed to jump very quickly into "don't panic, it wasn't a terrorist attack" mode. My point being, I hope that the agency is more concerned with protecting us than in placating us. Otherwise we're right back to September 10th.
