I can't tell you what a bad taste punching the screen for McCain would leave in my mouth. But it's hard to argue when you hear it straight from the hardcore liberal horse's mouth - well, Susan Estrich's mouth in her latest Real Clear Politics column,
What the Campaign Vets Are Saying:
There was a consensus, among the Dems anyway, about the Republican race. Watch out for McCain. He's coming back. And if and when he does, he's the strongest candidate they've got.
Huckabee? We should be so lucky. Romney? A Democratic dream. Rudy? What's happened to him?
No, it's McCain who Democrats are watching and worrying about.
Maybe we could just have him for four years? Maybe someone good will come along to really lead the GOP before 2012?
