It's The Generation Gap, Stupid

We're tired of hearing about Vietnam. We're tired of hearing about the 60s and 70s. We're tired of hearing about Nixon. We're tired of hearing about Watergate. We're tired of the IRS. We're tired of defeatism. We're tired of the religious right and the immoral left.

We. Are. Tired. Of. The. Boomers.

So move over "Worst Generation", you've got competition for the future. Gen X and Gen Y are speaking.

That's how Obama won Iowa, and how I think he may sweep the nomination and the roll on into the White House. I won't vote for him, but I think a lot of my generation and the generation after will. To a lesser extent the same applies to those who would vote for a populist like Huckabee.

It's not a coherent movement by any means (Gen X are slackers after all), and I believe Gen X and Gen Y are more polarized between "liberal" and "conservative" than their parents and grandparents are/were. It will be an interesting campaign season...
