The Proof Is In The Protest... And The Firebombs...

Muslims In Fresh Athens Demo Over Alleged Koran Insult
"We want this officer put on trial, and we ask the government to protect our prayer sites in Athens," said Zuri, a Moroccan protester.

"But we intend to set a good example and refrain from violence..."
I guess there's a first time for everything.

It's Time To Get Your Move On

Katrina Victims Face Eviction From Federal Housing
Nearly four years after hurricanes Katrina and Rita left a million Americans homeless, the government is threatening to throw thousands of storm survivors out of temporary federal housing.

A FEMA official told a House panel Friday that the government will send Katrina survivors still living in temporary housing eviction notices starting June 1 and try to connect them to agencies that can help them. But he also said it would be "some period of time," meaning months, before the evictions actually would begin.

The $5.6 billion housing assistance program that provided temporary trailers and hotel rooms to victims was supposed to end in 2007. But the deadline was extended by two years to May 1 of this year to help the more than 5,000 individuals and families still struggling to rebuild their lives. (At its peak, 143,000 households along the Gulf Coast were located in temporary housing units.)

But the Obama administration says they have to go by the end of the month or face eviction.
I'm sorry, but if you haven't gotten your act together after four years then you've just been sitting on your ass. Pack it up, move on, and accept the fact that you may not be able to live where you want too. The Nanny State's teat is dry.

Torture By Haute Cuisine...

A Growing Threat at Guantanamo? Detainees Fatten Up
Most of the prisoners arrived at the military prison in southeast Cuba slightly underweight but have since gained an average of 20 pounds (9 kilograms), and most are now "normal to mildly overweight or mildly obese," Navy Cmdr. Robert Durand, spokesman for the detention facilities, said Monday.
Said Ann Coulter: "If you think Allah is great, you should try these dinner rolls." They're living better in captivity than in the wild. The article points out that they're being fed better than actual Americans in our prison system — or rather over-fed and under-exercised. Of course if we were to cut their caloric intake and organize daily calisthenics we'd be hearing about how they were being starved and... you got it: tortured. It's a classic no-win situation with the libs. The only thing that would make them happy is to give Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and his cohorts a green-card, public housing, unemployment benefits, a single payer health plan, and of course, a private chef.

Liberals — Still Just As Nasty & Biased As Ever

This is funny: Obama laughs at [Wanda Sykes'] Rush "Oxycontin" Jab
She finished her Rush bit with: "l hope this country fails?" I hope his kidney fails!"
This requires an apology: Golf Analyst Feherty Sorry for Pelosi Joke in Dallas Magazine
"From my own experience visiting the troops in the Middle East, I can tell you this though," Feherty wrote toward the end of his column.

"Despite how the conflict has been portrayed by our glorious media, if you gave any U.S. soldier a gun with two bullets in it, and he found himself in an elevator with Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and Osama bin Laden, there's a good chance that Nancy Pelosi would get shot twice, and Harry Reid and bin Laden would be strangled to death."

Feherty, a former Ryder Cup player who grew up in Northern Ireland, has gone to Iraq over Thanksgiving the past two years to visit with U.S. troops, and he created a foundation to help wounded soldiers.
In case you're keeping score...

Yep. Just Like I Thought. It Sucked.

J.J. Abrams said he didn't care about continuity and boy did he mean it. He fucked Star Trek all the way to the other side of the galaxy and back again. What's sad is that he made a very visually appealing movie, the effects were great, and the acting was spot on. I didn't even mind the exterior redo of the Enterprise; although the interior was overdone. If someone who appreciated Trek had been in charge this could have been a fantastic beginning of a new series of movies - but unless they plan on correcting the errors in a future installment (most horrifically the death of one of the central and most beloved characters in the series and the destruction of a very important place) I won't be seeing another of his abominations.

Finally!

Mexico Scrubs Itself Clean To Combat Flu Outbreak
Mexico is scrubbing itself clean to battle the new H1N1 flu, taking unprecedented precautions in restaurants, public transport and museums that officials hope will take hold once the health crisis passes.

In a country where poverty often prevents basic hygiene and many people wrongly believe a shot of tequila or a squeeze of lime juice will kill microbes, a sudden and urgent education in epidemiology is taking hold.

"This is breaking with a paradigm. I think there will be a change. It has been an important lesson for society," said Dr Pablo Kuri, an adviser to Health Minister Jose Angel Cordova.

The swine flu virus has killed at least 44 people in Mexico and two in the United States and infected more than 2,000 people in 24 countries, triggering fears of a pandemic.
Later is better than never I suppose...

Puppies, The Supreme Court, And Aristotle

S.E. CUPP: Obama’s Wacky Supreme Court Vision
What is “empathy,” exactly? Heinz Kohut, an Austrian-born psychoanalyst, said, “Empathy is the capacity to think and feel oneself into the inner life of another person.” Does our legal system really hinge on our judges’ ability to think and feel themselves into the inner life of plaintiffs and defendants? Sounds more like a job for Oprah or the dog whisperer.

The word “empathy,” according to its Greek derivation, means “physical affection, passion, and partiality.” I thought Aristotle said the law is reason free from passion? And, if justice is blind, I’m fairly certain she’s also impartial.

But more importantly who is on the receiving end of it by Obama’s definition?

How do we administer an empathy test? Will the Judiciary Committee present potential appointees with a hypothetical empathy stress test? “Box of Puppies: Good or Bad?”

Puppies? Good. Empathetic judges? Bad.

Heh Heh... The Dems Lied To Specter

Specter Will Be Junior Democrat on Committees
Despite promises from Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) that Sen. Arlen Specter (Pa.) would retain his seniority after switching parties, Specter will be put at the end of the seniority line on all his committees but one under a resolution approved on the floor late Tuesday.

Under the modified organizing resolution, Specter will not keep his committee seniority on any of the five committees that he serves on and will be the junior Democrat on all but one — the chamber’s Special Committee on Aging. On that committee, he will be next to last in seniority.
Surprised, Arlen?
