Where are the moderate muslims?

Can someone please tell me why we still keep hoping these so called "moderate" muslim leaders and followers will show up enmasse and help us defeat the theocratic facists? While there may actually be some moderate muslims out there, they obviously are outnumbered and totally intimidated into silence.

Intimidated into silence, probably. Missing, or merely only "some"? I doubt it. There are hundreds of millions of Muslims (well, depends who you ask: here're some estimates - maybe even 1.2 billion of them).

Are you really so naive to think that they're all extremists out for your death? Don't you think you'd be dead by now (at least a 3:1 ratio to the population of the US, a ~2:3 ratio to Christians in general). Probably not.

But, let's think about it from their perspective. Defeating an internal threat is difficult. For instance, about half of the US would like to overturn the current policy machine... by our own rules, you need more than half to do it. And we're all playing by the same rules. There are many Muslim nations, and many Muslims not living in Muslim nations. It's doubtful that the moderate Muslims could just ask the extremists to stop and it would just happen. Or, yes, that they'd all want to.

But that doesn't make all Muslims extremists, it doesn't give us a justification to treat them all as terrorists. It also doesn't give us a reason (or, more important, any realstic hope of success) to invade non-theocratic Muslim countries merely on suspicion.

BP, I absolutely do not think that every muslim is out to kill us. The actual POINT of the post was that the majority that are not, certainly say a lot with their silence.
