Carter Backs Bush’s Stand On Seaport-Operations Deal

Does the White House really consider this to be a good argument?

DPW running the port has really nothing to do with security. The British company currently running it is just as 'insecure'. How many radical muslims live in Great Britain? Probably about the same as the UAE.

The companies have as much to do with security as a toll booth operator has to do with the speed limit.

You're absolutely right about the lack of port security, Jafo. But it's still a bad idea to turn over control of our largest ports to a company based on what is essentially enemy soil during a war.

This would be like putting the German company Krupp in charge of our ports back during World War II.

Maybe all the hubbub will bring the lack of port security to the forefront for a change.
