The Devil Is In The Details...

See Update...

It appears that Dubai Ports World is going to give the US port terminals to a US entity; in other words, they probably intend to subcontract the management to a US company while they will still "own" the terminals.

I could live with this solution, although I won't shed any tears if the deal gets completely killed. This wrestling match over yet. As Senator Schumer said: "...the devil's in the details..."

honestly, i wasn't so riled up over them having control of the ports (insomuch as they would under the deal). they've been quite friendly to us, generally speaking, and seem to get the whole "capitalism thing'. yes, there are al-qaeda supporters among their countrymen, but i daresay there exist the same supporters within our own.

having said that, i think this solution is the proper one, as it appeases somewhat a very real fear we have in this country (and rightly so). i'd be much happier seeing us doing something solid about managing our porous borders, but that's a whole other Oprah.

wait, i'm cutting
