Blogs And History

Not that I'm feeling special, there are so many more important blogs and sites out there, but do you ever think that in like 500 years, historians will flip through our blogs like archaeologists to get a feel for how the average person felt in the 21st century? Think about it - there's never been a generation of humanity that has been so open with what they thought and felt. And it's out there for ever.

Apparently the answer is yes. Thanks to Average Gay Joe for pointing out this neat-o site.

Not that I expect any of my words to register even a blip on the radar of some future researcher, but to answer your question: yes. There are already efforts underway to preserve even the smallest blogs like yours and mine. Take a look at this site which works with the Library of Congress and the Smithsonian to do just that. For grins, type in the url of any old blogs or sites you've had and see if they pop up. They have to be around for a little bit first to be saved. Btw, this site is also useful when someone changes something on their site later on and you want access to what was originally there.

You're welcome, Kevin. If your site isn't on there yet (like mine), follow this link to have it added:
